Most people call Jen Steer by her first and last name at all times. In fact, sometimes she forgets Jennifer is her actual name. She is a senior broadcast journalism major and she will graduate in May. While at Kent State, she has been an anchor and producer for TV2 News and a columnist for the Daily Kent Stater.
After she graduates, she wants to be a Web producer. She enjoys shooting and editing video and she’s currently teaching herself some Web design. Instead of working on this blog, she should probably be working on her resume material.
Her two favorite holidays are election day and NFL draft day. She’s a sucker for breaking news and she watches a lot of CNN. She loves The New York Times and The Washington Post. She hates the big three: Time, Newsweek and U.S. News and World Report. That’s the kind of diet news she used to read in high school. She prefers The Economist and Foreign Policy. To be honest, she’s a bit of a news snob.
She’s a diehard Democrat. Her room is plastered with signs that read “Not rich enough for a tax break” and “I am pro-choice America.” In the March primaries, she voted for hope.
She believes comedy can be a persuasive tool, but she doens’t necessarily think everything she says is funny. People who know her have said they can hear her sarcastic tone in her writing. If she can only get other people to understand her sense of humor she’d be set.
